  1. THE SHACK.- The great yew of Crowhurst is roughly the same girth as the one in Tandridge, but it is probably older (4,000 years old by various sources).
    The trunk is completely hollow, leaving inside a space about six feet in diameter. early in the 19th century, it was apparently fitted out as a room, with table and chairs ! A doorway was even cut and a wooden door attached ! When a storm hit the tree in 1845 and brought down the roof, it still had table and chairs inside...

  2. L'if de Crowhurst possède une circonférence quasi-identique à celle de son voisin de Tandridge, mais il est probablement beaucoup plus vieux (il aurait 4.000 ans selon certaines sources.
    Le tronc étant totalement creux, il aurait été aménagé en pièce, avec table, chaises et porte, au début du 19ème siècle. Lorsque un orage fit abattre le toit de l'arbre en 1845, table et chaises se trouvaient encore, effectivement, à l'intérieur... Désormais ne subsiste que la porte en bois et son inutile verrou.
